chinatown

I made this drawing freshman year at MICA. My roomates and I went to New York to see Medeski, Martin, and Wood’s annual Halloween show.

The show was fantastic. Afterwards, we decided to walk around the city while passing around a water bottle full of vodka. We ventured into Central Park, and after smoking a little pot while aimlessly walking from one path to another, ended up getting lost. We weren’t too worried about it, though, because we still had plenty of vodka. Eventually we crossed paths with two officers in a squad car looking for “ghosts” and “goblins” vandalizing the park with spray paint. We kindly asked them for directions out of the park. We went to a late night diner and somewhere around 5 a.m. headed to Dan’s brother’s place where we stayed for the night.

The next morning was a scramble trying to get to Chinatown to catch our bus back to Baltimore on time. We missed the bus we wanted to take and had to wait around for a few hours until another bus came. So we walked around, checking out some of the food and shops to kill time. One of the photos I took was used to make this drawing.
